    Valiant Solutions is seeking a DevSecOps Consultant to join our growing, innovative team!     This is your opportunity to join a busy security engineering team providing security engineering consulting services to a fantastic Government client.  This position forges engineering with Government Risk and Compliance to ensure real security is in place within Government systems along with compliance box checking. You will conduct security engineering reviews of systems that are preparing for ATO assessment, guiding project teams to implement technical NIST controls to create securely architected solutions.  You will also support security assessors and conduct some assessments on your own.

     

    The successful candidate will have a strong background of engineering experience, preferably with most of that experience being in the security space.  An understanding of all of the many layers of defense-in-depth security, including specific technologies that can be applied at each layer is essential.

     

    The successful candidate will integrate with DevOps teams to help them transform into DevSecOps teams.  This will involve playing an active role in sprint planning meetings and various decision-making sessions to ensure that security requirements and considerations are woven into the development of each system.  The successful candidate will review and interpret Systems Security Plans (SSPs), interview project teams to understand their systems, identify gaps in system compliance against NIST controls, and provide recommendations to achieve security compliance.

     

    This position requires strong communication and organization skills.  Our Security Engineering consultants interface directly with the customer and must be able to work autonomously and produce high-quality work product. Candidates must have US work authorization with the ability to successfully pass Federal background and credit checks.

     

    Must have experience:

    • 10+ years of Information Technology engineering experience:  This experience must include a mix of engineering and operations experience.  Experience may include systems administration, network engineering, or application development.  The successful candidate will have experience with a broad range of technologies deployed in on-premise data centers or in the cloud.  Experience with engineering design and innovation is required.
    • 6+ years of Security experience:  The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in the IT Security space.  This experience must include security solution design and implementation. The candidate must have hands on experience deploying security solutions.  Specific experience may include: Network Security, Cloud Security, Vulnerability Management, Application Whitelisting, and Penetration Testing.
    • 2+ years of cloud experience: The successful candidate will have at least two years experience working with Cloud Service Providers such as AWS or Azure, and will have experience working with services available within those cloud platforms
    • Some experience and understanding of CI/CD tools and DevOps orchestration tools such as: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Jenkins
    • Some understanding of NIST 800-53 and other NIST guidance.  The successful candidate will have at least a basic understanding of Government Risk and Compliance and will be eager to learn more.

     

    Desirable experience:

    • Command line experience with Linux or UNIX including OS installation and configuration, security hardening, patching and package upgrades
    • Encryption experience (in transit and at rest)
    • Experience with SIEM systems: McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, Arcsight, Log Rhythm, or Splunk
    • Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Microsoft Azure
    • Experience with Chef, Ansible, or Puppet
    • Scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby
    • Experience with IPS and IDS devices including policy tuning: McAfee Nitro IPS (Intel Security) or SourceFire ideally
    • Experience deploying cloud-based firewalls and developing, integrating with, and managing AWS cloud environments
    • Network and network security design experience
    • DLP knowledge
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Host-base security agent experience (Tanium, OSSEC, TrendMicro…)
    • File Integrity Monitoring experience

    Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and also be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
