  • Position Description

    Valiant Solutions is seeking Secret or Top Secret cleared Security Network Engineers to join our growing team supporting a large Government Agency in positions that can be based in any of the following areas:  Ashburn VA, Fulton MD, Eatontown NJ, or Charleston SC. These positions offer the opportunity for 30-40% travel in the US and overseas for on-site systems testing, assessments, and validation.

    Due to federal regulations, all candidates must have an Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance to be considered.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide IA support to include providing independent verification and validation (IV&V) support to networks/enclaves and programs of record (PORs)/platforms information technology (PITs), automated scanning tool support, IA self-assessment support, and A&A package development support.
    • Provide assistance to system personnel in completing required A&A documentation, addressing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) results, and assisting system personnel in preparing A&A packages for review by the Validator, Security Control Assessor (SCA), and the Authorizing Official (AO).
    • Provide assistance to the systems in finding details contained in their plans of action and milestones (POA&Ms); recommending security risk-mitigations; and requesting extensions for expiring IATOs as required.
    • Conduct liaison with the systems in preparation for A&A activities.
    • Participate in A&A process improvement activities.
    • Use automated collection utilities (i.e. PowerShell or other scripting languages) that supplement and expedite this information-gathering process by performing system discovery, and hardware and software listings.
    • Conduct IV&V activities at network/enclave sites and PORs/PITs using standardized procedures and scoring methodology IAW DoD policy and RMF.
    • Validate all applicable NIST 800-53a controls; perform a vulnerability and risk assessment of identified vulnerabilities and identify countermeasures.
    • Consolidate, review, analyze, and produce reports containing the assessment and IV&V results.
    • Responsible for the engineering design, development, integration, installation, operation and maintenance of the Cisco and Juniper hardware and protocols.
    • Providing technical support for the networks and develop equipment and network configurations.
    • Providing support to the wireless networks and systems.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.S. in Information Management, Computer Science, or some related field and 8-10 years of experience is required. 10-12 years of experience required if no B.S.
    • Meet DoD 8570 qualifications of IAT Level II along with CCNA, CCNP, and other Cisco Certifications.
    • Understanding of Defense Healthcare Management Systems (DHMS) to include Air Force Medical Service, Army Medicine, Navy Medicine, Reserve and Veteran Affairs medical information systems.
    • Understanding of DHMS routing architecture and platforms deployed at Military Treatment Facilities.
    • Understanding of how to install and maintain Cisco and Juniper switches and routers.
    • Understanding of installing, deploying and maintain Palo Alto and other next-gen firewalls.
    • Understanding of VOIP, SMS, and other protocols and services.
    • Understanding of DISA STIGs to implement into network architecture.
    • Familiar with DISA ACAS (Tenable Security Center/Nessus/PVS) and the SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC).
    • Familiar with Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) standards and SCAP validated products.
    • Familiar with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Requirements Guides (SRG), DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
    • Familiar with IA vulnerability management (IAVM) compliance, and other requirements, policies, and best business practices.
    • Knowledge of the following Windows Operating Systems, network types and media, switching fundamentals, ability to operate and configure IOSs, and managing network environments.
    • Familiar with and have a working knowledge of National Institute of Science Risk Management Framework publications such as NIST 800-37, NIST 800-53, and NIST 800-126.
    • Ability to use DoD approved security tools such as DISA STIG Viewer, and the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS). Candidate must be able to perform monthly security scans on Army networks and provide information to be used in reporting IAVM status of Army systems and also provide FISMA information for systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels are required
    • A professional attitude regarding attention to detail and customer service and excellent organizational skills are required

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and also be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
