This position is primarily remote, with the understanding that onsite presence at the Washington DC client site will be required as needed to address security incidents. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, a related degree, or an additional three (3) years of experience.
- 8+ years of specialized experience in incident response, management of the APT, forensic analysis, and handling of evidentiary data, with the most recent experience in the past 4 years.
- Experience performing IR, Forensics, and post-mortem reports in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Ability to identify malware characteristics and conduct reverse engineering in x86 and x64 assembly
- Ability to demonstrate and conduct Windows memory forensics techniques to analyze malware threats.
- Strong knowledge of malware code and behavioral analysis.
- Working knowledge in SIFT, REMnux, or other similar frameworks.
- Experience in Presentation and Reporting of Evidence and Analysis
- Experience in File System Timeline Analysis
- Experience in Live Incident Response and Volatile Evidence Collection
- Experience in Advanced Windows Registry Analysis
- Experience in Forensic Imaging and Filesystem Media Analysis
- Experience performing Advanced Network Event and Protocol analysis and timeline reconstruction
- Experience and ability to develop, use and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- In-depth experience with processing and triage of Security Alerts from multiple sources, but not limited to Endpoint security tools, SIEM, email security solutions, CISA, Threat Intel Sources
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate events (through a triage process) and identify appropriate prioritization for response
- Expert understanding of security incident response processes
- Support and participate in Threat Hunt and Threat Intel operations
Responsibilities:
- Participate in a rotating on-call; rotation is based on the number of team members
- Provide Incident Management and Forensic Support as required for incidents / investigations including off-hours
- Provide Incident Management support, including guidance and expertise to the Incident Response Team and SOC components
- Development of policies, instructions, standards, and procedures around security functions
- Develops, Maintains, and Optimizes malware and forensic analysis laboratory environment
- Maintains digital evidence Chain of Custody for forensic activity in accordance with policy, industry standards, and law
- Perform forensic analysis on a variety of network, host, digital media, and operating systems/environments as but not limited to: Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Linux/Unix, Mainframe, and cloud computing platforms (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
- Prepare detailed written technical reports covering methodology applied to forensic investigation, findings, and recommendations for further action
- Provide SME technical analysis for Incident Response and Forensics for Incident / Breach / and Compromise Activities. Including but not limited to malware detection, lateral movement, data collection, and exfiltration detection
- Provide a complete response to all DFIR tasks
- Produce and review aggregated performance metrics
- Work directly with Security and SOC leadership on to convert intelligence and results from forensic analysis into useful detection in enterprise security tools
- Collaborate with incident response team to rapidly build detection rules as needed
- Perform customer security assessments
- Supporting incident response or remediation as needed
- Participate and develop and run tabletop exercises

Position Description: As a Tier 2 SOC Analyst, you and your team will be responsible for managing a 24x7x365 cybersecurity operations center and responding to escalated alerts, notifications, communications and providing incident response activities such as tracking the incident, communication with stakeholders, remediation and recovery actions and reporting. Ensure reports are properly entered into the incident tracking system and coordinate with the reporting entity to understand the event and details fully. Expected to know about cybersecurity incidents, anomaly analysis, log analysis, digital forensics, and common threat vectors, comprehend reports, and determine what additional action and response activities may be required to resolve an incident. Follow established SOPs, policies, and other procedures for escalation and notification of Federal Leadership and reporting. The ideal candidate must understand Splunk SIEM and support forensic tools well.
Qualifications:
- US Citizenship and must be able to pass a background investigation (up to Top Secret)
- 4+ years of Information Technology experience
- Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related degree OR an additional 2+ years of relevant experience
- Cybersecurity certifications are preferred but not required
- Excellent organizational, verbal, presentation/facilitation, and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting briefings to the client.

- Understanding of compliance or regulatory frameworks (i.e., FISMA, NIST, ISO)

- Ability to work independently to address and resolve a security incident with minimal supervision
Responsibilities:
- Supports/develops reports during and after incidents, which include all actions taken to properly mitigate, recover, and return operations to normal operations
- Lead and actively participate in security-related meetings and discussions with the client
- Perform incident response analysis based on investigation requirements
- Participate in the remediation of incidents and responses that are generated from live threats against the enterprise
- Record and report all incidents per Federal and department policy
- Create and track network incidents and investigations through the closure
- Serve as key personnel for Incident Management; provide coordination, task assignment, and process guidance for incident response event
- Monitor and investigate security events received through the SIEM or other security tools
- Carry out Level 2 triage of incoming Incidents (initial IR assessment of the priority of the event, initial determination of incident nature to determine risk and damage, or appropriate routing of security or privacy data request)
- Manage assigned investigations to ensure they are being actively worked on and assist Tier 1 analysts as needed to resolve investigations
- Review, revise, and recommend technical, process, and physical controls
- Develop and implement defensive cyber best practice tactics, techniques, and procedures

Required Experience
- 1 year minimum supporting CyberArk or Sailpoint (IdentityNOW or IdentityIQ)

Responsibilities
- Support updates to IdentityNow operational artifacts such as governance groups, roles, and access profile configurations.
- Provide end-user support by resolving tickets for issues and bugs that need to be resolved through the use of ticketing tools like ServiceNow.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic scripts or code configuration for issues to pass on to an implementation team.
- Privileged Access Management Experience with CyberArk, including working with components such as Enterprise HA Vaults, CPMs, accounts, policies, safes, usages, and providers.
- Provide reports and metrics on tickets that were resolved periodically.
- Provide support for application certification campaigns that occur throughout the year using IdentityNow.
- Ability to write search queries in IdentityNow and support end users for reports.

Must-Have Experience:
- 5+ years of IT experience

- 6+ years of development experience. This experience must include full-time development on Linux/UNIX platforms and will involve the use of bash scripting, Python, or Ruby.

Strongly Preferred Experience:

Position Requirements:
10+ years of experience in Information Technology: The successful candidate will demonstrate deep technical knowledge in the management and configuration of operating systems, networks, and software. Acceptable experience may be solely in a security context or in software development or systems engineering.
6+ years of experience in Vulnerability Management: The successful candidate will have at least six years of experience supporting a vulnerability management program for a large organization. This experience must have included the design and deployment of highly available vulnerability scanning solutions (including compliance scanning). This experience must also include the design, implementation, and configuration of Tenable Security Center, Tenable.io/sc. The candidate must demonstrate depth of understanding of a variety of operating system and software vulnerabilities

As a SOC Analyst (Tier 3) you and the team will be responsible for manning a 24x7x365 coordination center and responding to alerts, notifications, communications, and providing incident response activities. You will support daily SOC operations, including but not limited to: Alert analysis/triage/response, Review and action on Threat Intel for IOCs and other operationally impactful information, and understanding of SOC operations requirements and policies. The SOC analysis tasks will be end-to-end, including the network, underlying servers, and infrastructure (physical and virtual) as well as the application. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of SIEM and endpoint security tools used to source many of the alerts.
Candidates will join a fast-paced and creative team of SOC Analysts, Incident Response engineers, Threat Hunters, and Forensic Analysts focusing on identifying, interrogating, exploiting, and reporting incidents for the enterprise.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in SOC operations and provide examples of how they process events. The interview will also focus on conceptual and procedural methodologies used to evaluate logical, physical, and technical systems compromise. Candidates' understanding of malware analysis, advanced persistent threats, infection vectors, and defense strategies will be heavily focused on during the screening process. Additional emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s ability to articulate skills gained from experiences participating in incident response, malware analysis, SOC operations, and Incident Response.

- Provide Metrics and Artifacts supporting audit activities
- Analyze incident reporting and follow up with reporting sites to ensure a complete picture of the incident is available.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the client
- Keep federal leadership appraised of any incidents that could receive additional attention from leadership.
- Regularly research and recommend new technology trends or tools to bring on board while reviewing the effectiveness of existing tools to ensure that it aligns with existing cybersecurity risk standards.

As a SOC Analyst (Tier 2) you and the team will be responsible for manning a 24x7x365 coordination center and responding to alerts, notification, communications and providing incident response activities. The candidate will be responsible for supporting daily SOC operations including but not limited to: Alert analysis / triage / response, Review and action on Threat Intel for IOCs and other operationally impactful information, understanding of SOC operations requirements and policies. The SOC analysis tasks will be end-to-end including the network, underlying servers and infrastructure (physical and virtual) as well as the application. Candidates will be required to perform SOC triage and response analysis uncovering attack vectors involving a variety, malware, data exposure, and phishing and social engineering methods. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of SIEM and endpoint security tools used to source many of the alerts.
This position allows for 100% remote work. Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees and we strictly adhere to the details found below in our Remote Work Policy.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficiency in SOC operations and provide examples of how they process events. Interview will also focus on conceptual and procedural methodologies used to evaluate logical, physical and technical systems compromise. Candidates' understanding of malware analysis, advanced persistent threat, infection vectors and defense strategies will be heavily focused on during the screening process. Additional emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s ability to articulate skills gained from experiences participating in incident response, malware analysis, SOC operations and Incident Response.
Required Experience / Skills:
- Minimum of eight (8) years technical experience
- 5+ years of SOC
- 2+ years of rule development and tuning experience
- Desired: 1+ years Incident response
- Experience supporting 24x7x365 SOC operations including but not limited to: Alert and notification activities- analysis / triage / response, Review and action on Threat Intel for IOCs and other operationally impactful information, initial review and triage of reported alerts and Incidents
- Support alert and notification triage, review/analysis through resolution / close
- Manage multiple tickets / alerts in parallel including end user coordination
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate events (through a triage process) and identify appropriate prioritization for response
- Demonstrated proficiencies with one or more toolsets such as Bit9/CarbonBlack, Endgame, FireEye HX / CM / ETP, Elastic Kibana
- Experience and ability to use, contribute, develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- In-depth experience with processing and triage of Security Alerts; from multiple sources but not limited to: Endpoint security tools, SIEM, email security solutions, CISA, Threat Intel Sources
- Demonstrated experience with triage and resolution of SOC tasks; including but not limited to: vulnerability announcements, phishing email review, Tier 1 IR support, SIEM/Security Tools - alert analysis
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of event timeline analysis and correlation of events between log sources
- Demonstrated experience of the underlying logs generated by operating systems (Linux/Windows), Network Security Devices, and other enterprise tools
- Demonstrated proficiencies with an enterprise SIEM or security analytics solution including the Elastic Stack or Splunk.
- Solid understanding and experience analyzing security events generated from security tools and devices not limited to: Carbon Black, FireEye, Palo Alto, Cylance, and OSSEC
- Experience and solid understanding of Malware analysis
- Understanding of security incident response processes

Responsibilities:
- Working hours: 8:45 AM - 5:15 PM Eastern Time
- Participate in a rotating SOC on-call; rotation is based on number of team members
- Provide first line SOC support with timely triage, routing and analysis of SOC tasks
- Produce and review aggregated performance metrics
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours security and/or engineering issues
- Participate in the increase of effectiveness and efficiency of the SOC, through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions
- Think critically and creatively while analyzing security events, network traffic, and logs to engineer new detection methods
- Work directly with Security and SOC leadership on cyber threat intelligence reports to convert intelligence into useful detection
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours security and/or engineering issues
- Collaborate with incident response team to rapidly build detection rules as needed
- Responsible for supporting 24x7x365 SOC operations including but not limited to: Alert and notification activities- analysis / triage / response, Review and action on Threat Intel for IOCs and other operationally impactful information, initial review and triage of reported Incidents
- Perform analysis across all security tools uncovering attack vectors involving a variety, malware, data exposure, and phishing and social engineering methods
- Monitoring/triage security events received through alerts from SIEM or other security tools; escalate and support to IR as appropriate
- IDS monitoring and analysis, analyze network traffic, log analysis, prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarmsReview and reporting on anomalous patterns (Hunting) across all security tools / SIEM
- Develop in depth understanding of customer and SOC operations requirements and policies
- Ensure reports are properly entered into the tracking system
- Perform customer security assessments
- Supporting incident response or remediation as needed
