This position allows for 100% remote work.  Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees. The Lead Information Security Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of security engineering solutions to support our government client. This will include incorporating NIST 800-53 security controls and policy requirements into each design. The successful candidate will have experience designing layered security architectures, including security fabric coverage for the network and cloud service provider right up to the application.  Our company has a strong focus on security automation and data analytics and experience in these two areas are essential to success in this position. This security architecture role provides guidance and hands-on implementation support for government systems deployed in cloud and on-premise environments. The successful candidate will also serve as a project manager managing the implementation of security engineering and network changes for our client, in line with compliance requirements.


  • The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the implementation of NIST controls, and the technical controls in particular.  The candidate will have a good understanding of security tools used to discover, scan, protect, and defend an organization’s network and systems.  The candidate must be highly competent in leading Agile Scrums and delivering iterative innovation through by leading a team in an Agile environment. Prior tool experience will include:
    • Network Security tools: Next-gen Palo Alto firewalls, Fortigate firewalls and UTM, Cisco FirePower, and IDS/IPS solutions e.g Suricata 
    • Endpoint Security tools: Carbon Black, Cylance, TrendMicro, Endgame
    • Vulnerability Management: Tenable Nessus


  • The candidate will have had prior experience working with a wide variety of technologies, be well versed in the current state of Information Security, and be able to interpret requirements of relevant governing bodies (NIST, OMB, GAO, etc). The candidate will be required to interface with federal employees and contractors to perform the required activities.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience performing similar work for a federal client, to include strategic planning, solution development, threat modeling, FISMA assessments, and technical background. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of security and network engineering and will have experience integrating and tuning security tools, and similarly, the successful system candidate will have similar integration experience for system security tools.



  • Lead subject matter expert on a team of Security Architects and Engineers
  • Design complete security architectures for on-premise and cloud security fabrics
  • Design security solutions to meet security control requirements for government systems
  • Provide consultative security engineering and architecture guidance to our client’s development teams
  • Review and integrate all security requirements, including compliance, functional, security, integration, performance, quality and operations requirements.
  • Support the full system engineering to implement security early and throughout the development process
  • Define the security architecture, ensuring that it meets the business requirements and performance goals
  • Review and integrate the technical architecture requirements.
  • Provide input into final decisions regarding hardware, network products, system software and security.
  • Develop processes to ensure successful operations and management applications
  • Analyze and form direction regarding technology and industry
  • Provide guidance to peers and more junior team members


Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • CISSP or CISM Required
  • 10+ years of Information Technology Security Experience.
  • 7+ years of CyberSecurity Experience
  • 4 years of technical management experience 
  • Practical understanding of NIST SP 800 series and the Cyber Security Framework
  • Demonstrated experience leading IT projects with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work towards strict deadlines.
  • Experience writing System Security Plans and associated compliance documentation
  • Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, data, and applications) to deliver end to end cloud infrastructure architectures and designs
  • Previous experience with scanning tools e.g. Nessus, SIH, AppDetective, WebInspect.
  • Excellent interpersonal, interviewing, analytical and problem-solving skills to address variable situations.
  • General knowledge of industry security requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to read and analyze data effectively to write cogent reports on assessment findings with sound recommendations.
  • Good human relations, communication, supervisory and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology-related field.
