Valiant Solutions is seeking a Continuous Monitoring / ISCM Lead to join our growing team supporting a large Government client in Washington DC. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate to break ground on the implementation of a new Continuous Monitoring program that will incrementally mature with automation, supported by government security tools.


Salary is based on experience and education. All candidates must be US Citizens with the ability to pass a federal background check.

The Continuous Monitoring Architect and Lead will lead the development of a brand new Continuous Monitoring program to support Ongoing authorization for our client. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our client’s continuous monitoring program. This involves understanding the intent of RMF Step 6, and creating Continuous Monitoring policy and procedure for an enterprise-wide program. The intent is to replace the manual 3 year assessment cycle with a tool-supported ISCM program. This role is about forging compliance and tools. If you have assessed or managed FISMA systems you will understand the artifacts that are commonly requested to validate technical control implementation. You need to craft an ISCM strategy and procedure that uses those enterprise tools to replace the need for manual process.


The successful candidate will have a solid understanding on the implementation of NIST controls, and the technical controls in particular, and a good understanding of security tools used to discover, scan, protect, and defend an organization’s network and systems. The candidate will have had prior experience working with a wide variety of technologies, be well versed in the current state of Information Security, and be able to interpret requirements of relevant governing bodies (NIST, OMB, GAO, etc). The candidate will be required to interface with federal employees and contractors to perform the required activities.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience performing similar work for a federal client, to include strategic planning, solution development, FISMA assessments, and a technical background.


Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of technology experience is preferred
  • 8+ years of Information Security Experience
  • 8+ years of knowledge and practical understanding of NIST SP 800 series.
  • 3+ years experience supporting a Continuous Monitoring program, including program implementation or advancement performance
  • At least one of the following professional security certifications is required: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, CAP, CEH.
  • Knowledge and experience working with enterprise security tools which support security programs and continuous monitoring e.g. scan tools, SIEMs, endpoint security products
  • Expert skills in assessment techniques and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, interviewing, analytical and problem solving skills to address variable situations.
  • General knowledge of industry security requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to read and analyze data effectively to write cogent reports on assessment findings with sound recommendations.
  • Good human relations, communication, supervisory and time management skills.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and also be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer.

Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express one self, and exchange information visually and verbally.

Must be able to occasionally bend and lift files and papers up to 10 pounds throughout the office space for events and meetings.

Individual's primary workstation is located in an office area
