Valiant Solutions is seeking a SOCaaS Delivery Engineer to join our growing team supporting a large Government client.  This is your opportunity to join an innovative, productized Security Operations Center as a Service team delivering cutting-edge solutions to a fantastic group of  Government clients.   The ideal candidate will be both a leader and a problem solver. You may find yourself leading a meeting of executives in the morning and installing security agents on critical hardware in the afternoon. Based on the complicated nature of this service offering within the government, this role is subject to change quickly based on the needs of the client. This position allows 100% telework.  Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees. Requires US work authorization and the ability to pass a federal security background investigation to obtain a security badge.


Must have experience:

  • 3 to 5+ years experience with Endpoint protection systems: The successful candidate will have proven experience configuration and administration of endpoint security agent solutions such as Endgame or FireEye HX. The candidate must be able to explain how they have implemented and advanced these tools with in an organization.  This is not just an operations position, the successful candidate will be responsible for making improvements.
  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience with systems administration: The successful candidate must have experience with Windows and Linux/UNIX server operating systems administration. You must have Strong command line experience with Linux or UNIX including OS installation and configuration, security hardening, patching and package upgrades and must have in-depth experience on IDS tool like Security Onion , Snort , OSSEC.
  • 3+ years experience scripting in Python or Ruby


Responsibilities Include:

  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby
  • Designing and implementing endpoint security solutions in cloud and on premise data centers
  • IDS/IPS Engineering: Installation/Configuration and tuning IDS/IPS signatures,  create and amend policies
  • SIEM: monitor events and trends using Kibana
  • Provide support for internal and external customers in a large enterprise environment
  • Troubleshoot a range of IT security and connectivity issues
  • Support other team members in troubleshooting and project efforts
  • Manage hardware and software inventories
  • Works with remote teams to install, maintain and troubleshoot security hardware
  • Ensure customers receive top of the line support in a polite and courteous manner
  • Keep detailed records of customer interaction and problem resolution in a ticketing system
  • Develop standard operating procedure and network topology documentation
  • Provide on-call and afterhours support as required.
  • Administer applications running on Linux and UNIX systems in virtualized and cloud environments


Responsibilities May Also Include:

  • Update Ansible roles to configure Logstash
  • Developing GROK patterns for LogStash
  • Automating new integration with the Elastic Stack
  • SOAR automation
  • Scripting in Python or Ruby to automate tool integration and processes
  • Automating server configuration for security including logging, key changes, and system hardening.
  • Automating the implementation of security controls in Amazon Web Services (AWS) via the AWS API.
  • Developing security enhancements to improve the security posture of our Government clients. 
  • Developing custom enhancements to COTS tools to improve their functionality and enrich data.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and also be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer.

Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express one self, and exchange information visually and verbally.

Must be able to occasionally bend and lift files and papers up to 10 pounds throughout the office space for events and meetings.
