Position Description

Valiant Solutions is seeking a Lead Security Device Assessor in the Washington DC Metro area to join our growing team supporting a large Government Agency. This position has an on-site requirement in downtown Washington DC of 50%, and the remaining 50% is remote work.

 

This position is to be a part of a small project team, with guidance and oversight provided by senior security specialists. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding in network administration, telecommunications, and security concerns related to these technologies. Experience with creating authenticated vulnerability scans with any automated assessment tool. The ability to interpret and apply the results with client IT security policy and NIST guidelines. Manual configuration of network connection settings is required for this position. This individual must be able to articulate information throughout the assessment process to both technical and non-technical professionals, vendors, manufacturers, clients, and other team members.


The candidate will be responsible for reviewing automated assessment results, completing manual reviews of the technology, and developing security risk assessment reports. The individual must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to manage priorities to achieve requested deadlines.

This position in based in the Washington DC Metro area and allows for 50% remote work. Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees and we strictly adhere to the details found below in our Remote Work Policy. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years related IT experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related degree or an additional two (2) years of relevant experience 
  • 4+ years of total IT experience in network and/or telecommunication administration
  • 4+ years of working with NIST Guidelines and FISMA requirements
  • 2+ years of experience conducting wireless vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
  • 2+ years of vulnerability assessment tool experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • 2+ years of Windows Server and Linux Administration experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with varying professional levels
  • Able to lift packages up to 50 lbs for deliveries from Operational Technology (OT) vendors

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • SCADA, or Building Automation System (BAS) experience
  • Python and PowerShell automation experience
  • Network certifications (Network+, WCNA, or CCNA)
  • Security certifications (Security+, CISM, CISSP, or CEH)

Responsibilities:

  • Due to the nature of the IT Security Lab, on-site work is necessary to set up devices, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and interface with the customer. Remote work can be performed in a hybrid setting. Approximately 50% onsite in Washington DC and 50% remote can be expected.
  • Perform authenticated automated assessment scans
  • Verify access points using services returned in automated assessment results
  • Manually review documentation against automated scan results and identify discrepancies
  • Create Security Assessment Reports (SAR), detailing assessment findings
  • Learn and become familiar with new technologies
  • Demonstrate structured adaptability within the scope of each assessment
  • Contribute to a collaborative, evolving work environment
  • Perform administrative and support functions as needed
  • Complete assignments through critical thinking application skills and task completion initiative
  • Complete assignments to clients detailed standards
  • Works with Operational Technology (OT) vendors to remediate identified vulnerabilities
  • Holds quarterly meetings with OT vendors to discuss product roadmaps, and hardware/software releases
  • Meets at least weekly with the customer to brief the status of device assessments
  • Works with the Technical Operations team to ensure compliance of applications in Post-Installation SAR Review Meetings
  • Perform assessments on Pilot systems as necessary
  • Update the Assessment Tracking report on a weekly basis
  • Assist System Owners and ISSOs/ISSMs with related tasks and inquires
  • Perform Peer Reviews on Security Assessments
  • Host Security Review calls with OT Vendors
