Junior SOC / IR Analyst

Valiant Solutions is seeking multiple Secret or Top Secret Cleared Junior SOC / IR Analysts to join our blended Security Operations Center (SOC) team, providing 24x7 cybersecurity monitoring and incident response support! 24/7 coverage is maintained through two staggered teams working 4x10 hour shifts across three overlapping time blocks.

These motivated and detail-oriented SOC Analysts will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment, that will actively monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity incidents, escalating significant threats and supporting the operational security of our client’s systems and infrastructure.

Required Experience:

• Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or an additional three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of IT experience, preferably including exposure to cybersecurity operations, SOC monitoring, or incident response activities.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity monitoring tools such as SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel).
• Experience or familiarity with ticketing and case management tools and processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are suitable for documenting incidents and clearly conveying relevant information to team members and stakeholders.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Perform continuous monitoring of cybersecurity alerts, events, and dashboards to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
• Actively manage incident detection and response, documenting analysis steps, actions taken, and resolutions within the case management system.
• Escalate significant cybersecurity incidents promptly to senior analysts or incident response personnel.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, communicating clearly to support timely incident detection and response activities.
• Provide real-time situational awareness through accurate and timely reporting of cybersecurity activities and incident statuses.
• Participate in shift rotations to ensure continuous 24x7 coverage of SOC operations.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of incident detection, documentation procedures, and response playbooks.
• Engage in regular training and skill-building opportunities to maintain proficiency and awareness of evolving cybersecurity threats and technologies.

The salary range for this position is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. It has been benchmarked in relation to the scope of the role, market rate, and internal equity. The salary for this role is expected to be in the $50,000 - $65,000 range. Where a candidate falls within the band can be determined based on one or more of the following: skillset, experience level, achievements, education, geographic location, security clearance, involvement in corporate tasks, and other non-discriminatory factors. In addition to the base salary, this role will include benefits as described below.  Valiant reserves the right to adjust the salary range, experience requirements, and position responsibilities at any time without prior notice.
